DENMARK
2005: Trip
Report |
|
The first stop on
our tour was at Koge, about 50km south
of Copenhagen. We lost the route on the outskirts of
the city and found ourselves cycling along the busy
main road.
Requests for directions earned us puzzled looks until
somebody told us that 'Koge' is pronounced 'Cooya'.
When we eventually found the path it was well signposted,
it wound through the countryside near the coast and
well away from the roads. We ate our picnic lunch at
a bench along the way.

The apartment
at Koge was clean and comfortable. The owners were a
young couple, and the apartment was a self contained
section of their house. They welcomed us like
old friends, making sure our bikes were stored
safely in the garden and we had everything we needed.
We settled in and walked to the 'torvet'.
Every town has a torvet, or square, and that is where
you find tourist information, ATM's and other useful
stuff.
We followed our normal routine of going to the Supermarket,
buying the ingredients for spaghetti carbonara and a
bottle of wine, and ate at the apartment. |
The next stop was
Feddet. Large camping sites have cabins and, although
quite expensive, they are easy to book and in convenient
locations.
We had planned on staying at several of these during
our trip but this experience put us off. Our cabin,
which was supposed to be the 'luxury' version, was cramped,
scruffy and austerely furnished. |
