We cycled the 12km from our apartment to the Gare De Lyon. Luckily we had done a dummy run to get some experience with the Paris traffic and bicycle paths and find the way or we would certainly have missed our train. The traffic was chaotic and the bicycle path confusing, appearing and disappearing and switching from one side of the road to the other.

Traveling on a train with bikes is always stressful in a new country, but it was all very efficient. The bicycle carriage had hooks to hang the bikes and embarking and disembarking was straightforward.

We disembarked at Montbard and cycled the 30km through pleasant countryside to Savigny. We were staying in a 17th century farmhouse. It was large but in poor condition with ramshackle furniture.

We settled in and had spaghetti carbonara with rather more wine than recommended and a box of chocolates. About an hour after we arrived there was a thunderstorm and torrential downpour so we were lucky.
