FRANCE 2008: Trip Report

BURGUNDY
  Savigny-en-Terre-Plaine

  Next Dijon

The weather threatened rain but we did a day ride to Avallon using the minor (‘white’) roads as much as possible. The road from Maluzien to Cousin La-Roche ran through a particularly beautiful river valley.

Avallon is an attractive historic town. We had an excellent, and very reasonably priced, lunch at Dame Jeanne’s restaurant, the owner opened up the gates to the garden so we could store our bikes safely.

After lunch we cycled along minor roads to Montreal and then back to Savigny via the 16th century bridge at Guillon.
