We returned to France again in September 2011. This time we selected Dordogne and Lot in the region of Acquitaine in south west for our cycling holiday. It was unusually hot and we had to abandon our plans to cycle along the Lot river. But what we have managed to see was fantastic and, after a long and careful consideration (half an hour :), we decided that we would like to live in this part of France. We are learning French very intensively now and hope to be able to handle a basic conversation when we get there next year.
