The next day we cycled through the Monti Sibillini National Park. It was hard work, but very beautiful, the highlight of our cycling trip.

When we started it was very misty, but eventually we got above it.

At first the valley was a blanket of cloud, but as the morning progressed it gradually cleared.

There is a restaurant called the Rifugio Perugia just before the top and we enjoyed a pleasant lunch before going over the rim and into Piano Grande.

Monti Sibillini was originally a volcano. Piano Grande is a large flat plain that now occupies the bowl.
