We went for a day ride up the Rhine to Ilanz. The path along the Rhine was fairly easy but we made slow progress because we stopped about once a kilometer to admire the views.

We stopped for lunch at a Patisserie in a small town and had some delicious sandwiches and cakes.

After Bonaduz the path started to climb and a few kilometers later we found we were looking down at the Rhine far below. We descended the sides of the canyon with spectacular views and after crossing the river had a long slow climb up the other side. Sports cyclists speeding down shouted “op op op” as they passed.

We caught the train back to Bad Ragaz from a small village just outside of Ilanz.
