We mostly walked the very steep
three kilometers along a minor road over a saddle and
then cruised fifteen kilometers downhill to St Gallens.
The descent was down a pleasant valley but on the main
road. We felt vulnerable enough to put on our orange
safety vests for the first time since leaving Donaueschingen.
By the time we reached St Gallens the sky was covered
in heavy clouds and it was obvious that rain was not
far away. We found an apartment for two nights in the
center of town. The café/bakery sold excellent
cakes and we cooked sausages, onions and potatoes followed
by a selection of cakes, not a very healthy choice but
there it is.
